Never Limit God

“Never limit God by remembering what you have done in the past. When you come into relation with the Reality of Redemption, God creates something in you that was never there before; it is the active working of the life of God in you; consequently you can do now what you could not do before” (Oswald Chambers, God’s Workmanship).

That’s the best part of eternal life. God is infinite, meaning there are endless possibilities to how and when God can work in your life. You never know where God will lead you or why, but you know it will always be good. Just because God hasn’t doesn’t mean He won’t.

Limiting God to what He’s done in my past is forgetting what God has done down through the rest of history. To make it all about me and my own little world is to limit God and make Him too small. I need to remember that God’s story involves a worldwide redemption of people from every part of the planet.

I love the notion that God is able to do far beyond anything we can think or imagine. I don’t know about you, but I have a fairly active imagination. Yet God exceeds that by far. Even our biggest and wildest dreams are minute in comparison to the dreams God has for us.

Lord, we believe. Help our unbelief. You are so much bigger than we thought You were. You are so much kinder and better and stronger. You are much more able to love us and to keep us and make us holy. Take our mustard seed faith and make something grand and glorious from it in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus who makes all things possible. Amen.
