“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)

I look forward to Sundays more than ever these days. That’s because I know I get to see my church family and worship and hear God’s word taught. I do believe there’s something powerful that happens when God’s people gather together for corporate worship that doesn’t happen individually or when they choose to worship remotely.

I get that some people have health issues that prevent them from being able to worship in person, but I know that more and more people do it as a means of convenience (although laziness might be a more apt term for it). But God’s design for the Church is genuine face to face community.

Can you be a believer and not be a part of a local church? Technically, yes but why would you want to? Life is better when we share our joys and sorrows. And I get that many have been victims of church hurt, but one bad church doesn’t make them all bad. In fact, the vast majority are loving and accepting.

May we remember that whenever two or more are gathered in the name of Jesus, He is present among them. Lord, come and inhabit the praises of Your people as we gather together to worship You this coming Sunday. May we be Your visible hands and feet to love and serve You well. Amen.
