Richer in the Valley

“DURING HARD TIMES REMEMBER:
The soil is always richer in the valley.”

As much as I would really like to spend the rest of my life going from one mountaintop experience to the next, I know that’s not how it works. That’s not how you grow spiritually.

Even if you could somehow manage to live your faith solely based on ecstatic experiences and emotional highs, you’re still going to end up as a very shallow Christian because the roots grow deepest where it’s darkest and the soil is richer in the valley.

The valley is where we learn and grow and mature. The valley is what makes those mountains so great because we know the difference. The valley is where we God speaks to us in our pain and where we find we can hid in the cleft of the Rock until the storm passes by.

It’s in the dark that we learn the precious promises from God that once we’re back in the light, we can share with others who are going through dark valleys.

Don’t just praise God for the mountains in your life but also for the valleys that make you more like Jesus. One day, you’ll see those were the best times and the best places where you learned to see and savor God the most.
