It’s been a while since I gave you all an update on my cat Peanut. She turned 9 a few days ago and is still living the dream. Basically, that means she sleeps all the time. As in 23 hours and 45 minutes a day. At least.
Yep. She’s either asleep or very sleepy. That’s her normal mode of existence.
I wouldn’t mind trading places with her for a day or two. That way I could catch up on all my rest and she could go off to work and do my job. Or at least she’d look cute while taking a nap at the office.
But she’s still a blessing. I still remember when I went to the shelter after my first cat Lucy passed. I thought I wanted Lucy 2.0, but God had a different idea. This little tortie kitten reached out her little paw from her cage and picked me to be her forever human (or is it furrever?) and I’ve been grateful ever since.
She’s proof that God doesn’t always give you what you’re looking for but always what you need exactly when you need it.
The one unfair part of being a cat is that she can sleep all day and still not have any issue going to bed at night. Me? I can skate by on coffee when I haven’t gotten my 8 hour in and be super sleepy at the end of the day but still have trouble going to sleep. I guess the question is why cats never have insomnia.
I’d ask Peanut, but she’s too sleepy to give me an answer.
