Little Lamb

“Little Lamb who made thee

         Dost thou know who made thee

Gave thee life & bid thee feed.

By the stream & o’er the mead;

Gave thee clothing of delight,

Softest clothing wooly bright;

Gave thee such a tender voice,

Making all the vales rejoice!

         Little Lamb who made thee

         Dost thou know who made thee

         Little Lamb I’ll tell thee,

         Little Lamb I’ll tell thee!

He is called by thy name,

For he calls himself a Lamb:

He is meek & he is mild,

He became a little child:

I a child & thou a lamb,

We are called by his name.

         Little Lamb God bless thee.

         Little Lamb God bless thee” (William Blake).

Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. He is the perfect sacrifice. As Just as the sacrificial lamb had to be without blemish, so was the Lamb of God. As these lambs were born for the sole purpose of giving their lives as sacrificial offerings, so was He. As these lambs are swaddled at birth, so was He.

But the difference is that every time, a lamb had to die. The sacrifice didn’t cover the cost of the sin. It was only a down payment. Jesus as the Lamb of God was the ultimate and final sacrifice that forever paid for sin.

Little Lamb God bless thee. Little Lamb God bless thee.
