Today was the second day of Snowpocalypse 2026. Or Snowmageddon, if you will, although it was barely any snow and more ice than anything. It’s definitely ice that has made the roads treacherous and knocked out power to over 250,000 Middle Tennesseans. But it’s the first time in a while that I’ve been snowed in.
I participated in online church for the first time in over five years. I appreciate the technology that makes it possible to be able to worship with my church family, but it makes me also appreciate that there’s no substitute for in-person gatherings that the Bible says we should not neglect.
I’m praying for those homeless who are sleeping in the elements tonight. I know it’s dangerously cold out there and bound to get even colder over the next two days. I petition the God of heaven for His mercies over those who can’t get out of the freezing cold that His angels will watch over them and protect them in the night.
Still, there’s something beautiful about seeing the earth covered in white. It reminds me of the verse in Isaiah that says that though our sins are scarlet, we can be as white as snow. That’s what happens to all those who have placed their faith in Christ as Messiah and Lord. That’s the offer to anyone who is still stuck in their sin.
I can’t imagine that I’ll be leaving the house much for a few days, but I hope I can still take in the scenery and thank God for His provisions in still having power and a roof over my head and food in my belly and a warm bed to sleep in. Tonight, I will take none of these for granted.
