If I’m not mistaken, tomorrow marks the start of Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday and leading up to Easter Sunday.
Easter gets a bad rap sometimes. At least it does when it’s compared to Christmas. But really you need Christmas for Easter to work and you need Easter for Christmas to work. You need both.
You can’t have the crucifixion or the resurrection without the incarnation and Virgin birth. And you can’t have the incarnation without the crucifixion and resurrection. Ultimately, since we couldn’t get to God, God came to us.
So, this Easter, I hope I don’t forget what we’re really celebrating. I mean, all those colored eggs are nice. And those Cadbury eggs are especially nice. But that Jesus died for me? That He took my place and bore my shame and guilt? That’s even better.
And the best part? He didn’t stay dead. Not sin or death or the grave or hell could hold Him. I love that. Easter means that the impossible became reality.
That is certainly something worth celebrating.
