I have a Zune MP3 player. I think they’ll be the next big thing and eventully rule the competition. Of course, people said the same thing about Beta-Max and HD-DVDs. Not to mention New Coke, which I actually liked back in the day.
I have my Zune set on random, so I get a very interesting variety of music on any given day. For example, I listed 20 songs that came up in order:

I have an eclectic mix of classic rock, oldies, Christian, and Americana music. I also have 40’s big band, easy listening, country, rap, folk, disco, pop, and a few other styles of music represented.

I have a Sony Walkman mp3 player with built-in speakers – very nice feature. I also have a bit of an ecclectic mix but probably not the variety you have. My mp3 player is not even 1/3 full – rarely buy songs and even more rarely buy cd’s.
Right now we’re listening to an old Norah Jones album overnight set to repeat though often it might be Enya, Clannad or Iona. Something soft. During the day I might crank up some Asia, Zebra, Styx, Lynyrd Skynrd, etc.
If I want to mess with my wife I’ll get some Cajun or Zydeco cranking, though she doesn’t mind some Chieftan’s, Further Down The Old Plank Road or Marty Robbins.
I rarely put the player on full random though.
